Manitoba Law Courts New Entrance Accessibility Upgrades
408 York Avenue
Winnipeg, Manitoba
This project was for the complete remodeling of the front entrance of the Manitoba Law Courts Building. The work consisted of extending the main floor entranceway, complete rework of the exterior concrete slabs, stairs and ramps, new curtain wall, new Tyndall stone veneer, new security entrance and equipment, landscaping and benches.
The biggest challenge on this project was tying in to the existing steel structure that was supporting four levels of curtain wall. Working closely with 1 x 1 Architecture Inc. and Crosier Kilgour & Partners Ltd., we came up with a solution to support the existing structure while rebuilding the new steel structure below. COVID 19 restrictions and impacts on deliverables made it difficult to maintain the original schedule. Although the schedule was extended, we worked closely with the project stakeholders in order to keep the impacts to a minimum.
